The Red Bar Rolls Along…Next Stop, Madison

Alrighty then, the move is complete from Westbrook, Connecticut where the Annie Mame boutique was born, relocated because Venetucci Home is closing for good after more than 20 years. What a great place that was and a wonderful venue to get a feel for what retail is all about, still tons to learn but rolling along. Now, in September, I’ll reopen in a new space at Domestic Possessions in Madison, Connecticut. I’m designing the new place as a Deco New York City apartment. I am making little vignettes in the space, a bedroom, a kitschy kitchen, a movie theater, and of course the center of the room has the big red bar. I have grown to love that thing. I found it on Ebay at the start of the new year and it got trucked to the East Coast by way of Indiana. Who knows where its life was before then, in a real bar somewhere I suppose. Thanks to the guys who made the move possible, wouldn’t have happened so quickly if Dana Fordyce hadn’t given a shout out to all the boutiques who were in Westbrook, you’ll see a lot of those folks now in Madison…here we go!

Best wishes to you and the Red Bar at the new location. I worked in 1989 for Mercy Center there and it is lovely! Bound to succeed! e.

Tony, indeed flying solo now and trying to remember all that you taught me, I will see you soon on Bellevue Avenue! Please everyone should have such an address. :)

Elle, thanks a lot! The big red bar is now seated in the middle of the new space and holding its own quite nicely, working hard to get open as fast as I can.
