“Sew” You Say You Were Needled and Framed?

franed-earringsOkay so I worked it all in, in the title, sewing, knitting and framing. This is a do-in-yourself post. Something I sewed for the closet window, frames I used and paid next to nothing for and something I knitted.

As for the window treatment, I hung it really high so that the window looks higher. Yes, the fabric was a remnant and I had just enough for what I wanted to do.

The frames, you can get them at any flea market or second hand shops. I found the larger old frame at a vintage store, bought inexpensive cork squares  at CVS and then added a chalkboard decal. I hung it on the wall to hold all the  things that I want to go visit in Connecticut and write about here on Annie Mame.

The other smaller frame that holds my earrings I found at a flea market for $3.00. I added screen I got from the hardware store so that I can easily store and see the earrings I have. I put a wire on the back and hung it on the wall in the closet…it’s the best jewelry display item I’ve ever had and it maybe cost me $10.00 all together.

Growing up in Indiana the oldest of four children, we all learned a lot about making it yourself. It’s more fun that way and economical and the items are one of a kind.

You’ll notice I like really long earrings and this frame does the trick.

The sweater I knitted recently. The buttons on the sweater are of course vintage, please, what else would they be?

My grandmother taught me how to knit as a kid. I gave it up long ago and then right about the time of 9-11 I started up again as a way to kind of “cocoon” I think. Since then I’ve been out of control with that hobby just like my Grammy Ann was long ago. Yep, I was named after her. She was a twin, and yes, I had twins. Funny how that all happened.

So that’s my post on doing things yourself. Anyone who is crafty understands exactly what I’m talking about.

The picture frame ideas are very clever! I love the sweater…

I was in Madison the other day and stopped by the Madison Wool Shop. What a quaint store! Michele was so friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend the shop to my knitting friends.
