Action News 8′s, Skip Church Creates “Dustin’s Place”
I left my friend, Skip Church so inspired after learning about, and seeing what he and his wife Colleen and a ton of volunteers have done with a camp they are calling “Dustin’s Place.”
The slogan for Dustin’s Place is “where summer fun begins and life never ends.”

I remember Skip from those Action News days. I am saddened to hear about such a tragic loss. Children are so full of promise and potential. I, too, am inspired by their strength, vision, and desire to celebrate his life in such a meaningful way!
What an inspiration this should be to all of us. I hope Skip and his family are doing well and have found this great idea to be a comfort to them. They have great plans, and I hope they get there!
You hit it out of the park again Ann.
Ann, awesome article! What an GREAT event. It would be a wonderful thing to actually build “Dustin’s Place”. I remember meeting Skip at the home of a church member in Winchester Center, CT. He was there doing a story of about man named George Sherwood — a local historian and curator of the Winchester Kerosene Lamp Museum (located across the driveway from his). George lived next door to the church and I stopped by to visit him on my way home. I spoke with Skip for quite some time and ended up playing darts while we talked. He beat me soundly!!! I always thought it was funny for a local pastor to lose anything to someone named Skip Church.
I think it would be so great to see Dustin’s Place really come alive in Connecticut and beyond, we need more places like this for children everywhere.
What a touching story! It would be nice if this camp could fill a need for families too,not many encourage parent involvement. It would be fun for us to “play” with our kids at camp too! Maybe we could build communication bridges and fond memmories together. We often like being involved, but we do not know what to do. A friendly game of table top tennis anyone? :0)
