Blue Plate Radio was launched in March of 2008 and has found its niche in the jazz scene.
Blue Plate Radio is the brain child of Ed Tankus. It’s Connecticut’s only full time jazz station broadcasting 24-7 on the internet.
The logo was Ed’s idea too, he borrowed from yesterday and brought it into the future. I met Ed at where else but a diner, Georgie’s Diner in West Haven, which has become Annie Mame’s World Wide Headquarters.
While Ed is finding success with his two-and-a-half-year old venture he’s not stopping there. He’s taking the jazz off the radio and onto the Branford Green for a series of Thursday evening concerts this summer. Branford Jazz on the Green runs from July 1 thru August 26th.
While Ed and I where talking jazz, sitting right behind me in a booth was Jim Sinclair the Maestro of Orchestra New England. How random was that? So of course I introduced Ed to Jim, and now Jim knows about the jazz concerts on the green in Branford. I’m pretty sure he’ll spread the word for Ed and vice versa. I love how that works. The diner is every person’s meeting place.
So who’s on the bill for the jazz concerts? A wonderful assortment of musicians from Connecticut and outside. So grab dinner and a chair or blanket and come out for some great summer fun. For more info you can always go to Branford Jazz.com
