To know me is to know that I am a lover of the arts and all things creative. I am a founding board of trustees member of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Theater in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The “gem of a place with a movie star name” opened in September of 2009.

Since the curtain went up there have been plays, and rock and roll bands, children’s theater, dances, art shows, film, live opera in HD from the MET, 92nd Street Y, and on and on and on.
This May 12th on what would have been Hepburn’s 103rd birthday, a U.S. postal stamp (pictured above) will be unveiled in her honor. The ceremony will be taking place at The Kate, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
The four time Academy Award winning actress is Connecticut’s own. Hepburn was born in Hartford. She’s tied with Clint Eastwood for the most Oscars won, and that number is four. Another Connecticut actress is nipping at Hepburn’s record, that would be Meryl Streep , she has three. Pretty talented state, right?
At any rate, I invite you to check The Kate’s website early and often for the variety of cultural arts going on at this vibrant place. I write the blog for the theater as well.
Photos below are some of the events coming as we head into spring. Yes, get your tickets now.
