“Ma, How Do You Say That in Yiddish?”

I’ve been on the air in Connecticut for nearly 25 years at WTNH-TV and for all of that time Geoff Fox has been doing the weather. Geoff is a self professed geek, so it would make sense that he would stay connected at all times to all of his long time friends and family on his iphone.

Such was the case the other night at dinner with Noah Finz (Sports Director at WTNH-TV and me at The Greek Olive Diner in New Haven, Ct., not far from the TV station. We love sitting in a corner booth and discussing things like world peace. Prior to ordering some kind of sandwich wrap, Fox dialed up his folks in Boynton Beach, Florida to get some help on yiddish from his Mom, Betty Fox.

I thought you might like to hear what Noah and I hear on nearly a nightly basis. Seriously, to be with us is like living a sitcom.

I have known Harold and Betty Fox forever, they’ve even been to my house for a backyard bash a few years back. Harold, 84 and Betty, 82, have been married for more than 60 years, truly a love story. Geoff tells me Harold and Betty honeymooned with their best friends…kind of a Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred kind of thing.

The two of them are darling and a few years ago Geoff put together this wonderful piece on their love story, thought you might like to see that too.

Oh Ann how totally sweet that was! I love his dad’s comment at the end about how they hold hands in the mall, and then he laughs and says if he doesn’t she goes shopping!
I imagine if my parents were alive they would be the same, they were SO much in love and never had a problem showing it around us kids. Hugging, laughing and kissing. Dad died when I was twelve, and mom when I was 18, but I talk to them often and I know they are up in heaven…holding hands!
Thank you so much for sharing!

What a great video of Geoff’s parents! I had tears at the end thinking of how fortunate he is to have his parents alive and active at that age. I’m jealous!
Great blog Ann – I’ll add it to my feed!

That job seems to be working out okay for you; past the probation period do you think?

    Dear Annie,

I love your blog! Just came across it now! I love the story of Geoff’s parents meeting! So cute!!

My Son Elliot Grossman is a recent graduate of The University Of Delaware, where he earned a degree in Communications and Journalism.
He is currently finishing an internship at a PR firm in NYC. We live in NJ. He is now job hunting for something in the sports world… anything in the sports world!! He loves all sports- especially football! He is a huge NY Jets Fan. Can you give him any advice or anyone to get in touch with for any job interviews? He knows he has to start at the bottom for a job in sports. He had 4 unpaid internships in college- one was in LA for Fiji Water. Sports is his true love and passion!! Any help you can give him would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks so much!
    Fondly,
    Marci Grossman
