The Flatiron Building

I flat out love this work of art. The Flatiron Building, built in the Beaux-Arts style in New York City, is such a great structure. Sure, it’s not as epic as The Empire State Building or my favorite, the Chrysler, but it’s majestic in its own right.

My friend Donna used to work there, she grew up in the city ,and my brother John worked there too out of college, it’s just an amazing place all tucked in to its little corner.

On Shorpy.com you will find all kinds of wonderful vintage New York City photos, I look at them in awe. This is an absolute tremendous blog if you love yesteryear.

You have to understand I grew up in northern Indiana never thinking I would ever see NYC, it was just a place far away. So every time I go into the Big Apple I marvel over the wonder that it is. I will always feel that way about New York City.

I never tire of discovering new wonderful haunts there, and the Art Deco which you see everywhere, well don’t get me started.

Built in 1902, the Flatiron or Fuller Building as it was called, stands 22 floors tall at 175 Fifth Avenue at 23rd Street and Broadway in Manhattan. In its day it was one of the city’s tallest structures. Currently there are plans to turn it into a world class hotel…we’ll see if that comes to fruition.
